The day to celebrate... Raising Money!

Today's theme is Valentine's Day. I decided that instead of being bitter and jaded about it all, I would embrace it instead. Sort of. I did enjoy this Valentine to Seattle in the PI.

At work we have a Mission Committee that puts on events all year to raise money from the employees. At the end of the year we have a Mission Day that celebrates the employees and the money they've raised. We get to see which local charities get the money we've raised (also chosen by the employees) and the company matches the money.

The Valentine's Day Auction is the biggest money maker of the year. The Executives go all out and the amounts usually go WAY out of range for us poor worker bees, but it is still fun. The highest amount this year was $1000.00 for some lemon bars! I managed to get a berry pie a co-worker made for a mere $100.00. A bargain! I also got some homemade truffles in the Silent Auction for $20.00.
